The official moon night was Friday 25 September. Tonight is the public holiday in Hong Kong, the leftover grill smoke in Taiwan, the kids still running with lanterns in Vietnam, and the second park stroll in China. Weekend Mid-Autumn is the version visitors can actually use.
You do not add a country tonight. You leave the hotel.
Hong Kong — go out. This is the best “right now” city of the four. Public holiday, lanterns still hung, Victoria Park still the simple win. Tai Hang if the Fire Dragon is on its usual Mid-Autumn run — go early, accept people. The Peak is a postcard with a queue. Eat first. Walk second.
Taiwan — second night is calmer. Last night was the family BBQ. Tonight is parks, riverside paths and bakeries with the last decent boxes. Taipei does not need a ticket. Grab mooncake, find water or a lawn, stay out later than you think.
Vietnam — follow the kids. Hanoi Old Quarter and Hoi An old town still feel like a children’s festival after dark. Lion dance if you hear the drum. One lantern street is enough. Hoi An will be busy. That’s the deal.
China — one park, then dinner. Mainland holiday runs through the 27th. If you’re in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing or Guangzhou, pick the lantern park closest to your hotel. Do not start a high-speed rail tonight unless the ticket is already in your pocket. Golden Week is still five days away. Don’t preview it.
If you’re nowhere near any of this. Eat a mooncake anyway. The weekend is the point, not the boarding pass.
