Taipei in November is the month where the city finally cooperates. Days sit around 24–25 °C. Nights drop to about 18–20 °C. Rain is lighter than summer — roughly 90–100 mm across the month — and typhoons are rare. You can walk all day without melting, and night markets feel like a plan instead of a punishment.
The weather in one paragraph
Early November can still feel warm in the afternoon. By the end of the month mornings and evenings are cooler, so pack a light jacket or cardigan. Rain happens, but most of it is short showers rather than all-day soakings. Humidity is still there, just less oppressive. Yangmingshan is cooler and wetter than the city, so bring a layer if you head up.
What to do
Night markets: This is the upgrade. Cooler air means you can actually linger. Raohe is the best first-timer pick — one straight street, pepper buns at the temple end, and a high hit rate. Ningxia is compact and almost all food. Shilin is big and busy if you want the full spectacle. Go around 6 pm to beat the worst queues. Bring cash.
Beitou hot springs: Thirty minutes from the city. Cool evenings make a soak feel earned instead of sticky. Private rooms book out on weekends.
Yangmingshan: Silver grass season. Qingtiangang is the easy version. It is cooler up there, so the jacket earns its keep.
Temples and neighbourhoods: Longshan, Dihua Street, and Da’an are all easier in mild weather. No need to hide in air-conditioning between stops.
Food pivot: Skip the mango shaved ice. Switch to beef noodle soup, hot pot, pepper buns, oyster omelets, and gua bao. November is hot-food weather.
How to use the month
One good day is Yangmingshan in the morning, Beitou in the evening. Another is temples and neighbourhoods by day, Raohe or Ningxia at night. You do not need a packed schedule. The weather is the reason you can actually finish the day without collapsing.
Practical notes
Light jacket or cardigan for evenings and Yangmingshan.
Small umbrella for the odd shower.
Cash for night markets.
EasyCard for the MRT.
Weekends at Beitou and popular markets get busy — go early or mid-week if you can.
November is not dramatic. It is just the month where Taipei stops fighting you. Walk, eat, soak, and leave before the December crowds and cooler nights fully arrive.
