This is a 7-day Taipei plan that does not try to do everything. You get the temples, the night markets, Beitou, and one proper north-coast day. No early starts every morning. No back-to-back day trips. November weather helps — mild days, cooler evenings, and light rain instead of summer heat.
Day 1: Arrive and ease in
Get your EasyCard. Walk Da’an or Ximending if you have energy. Evening at Raohe Night Market. Start with the pepper buns near the temple. Leave before it gets packed.
Day 2: Temples and old streets
Morning at Longshan Temple. Then Dihua Street and Dadaocheng for the old shops and tea. Afternoon in the neighbourhoods around Wanhua. Evening at Ningxia Night Market — small, mostly food, easy to leave when you are done.
Day 3: Beitou and a slow afternoon
Morning train to Beitou. Hot spring soak and a walk around the thermal valley. Back in the city by mid-afternoon. Free evening — Yongkang Street for beef noodles or a quiet meal. No night market if you do not want one.
Day 4: North coast day trip
Jiufen in the morning before the crowds. Yehliu Geopark in the afternoon. Tamsui on the way back if you still have energy. Home by early evening. This is the only full day trip. Do not add another.
Day 5: Neighbourhood day
Da’an for coffee and bookshops. Taipei 101 if you want the view — go early. Afternoon free. Evening at Tonghua or Nanjichang if you want another market, or just eat near your hotel.
Day 6: Yangmingshan or nothing
Optional. Bus up for silver grass and cool air. Qingtiangang is enough. Back by mid-afternoon. If the weather is wet, skip it and do museums or more food. Either way works.
Day 7: Buffer and leave
Morning free. One last meal. Leave without rushing. If you have a late flight, a short walk in the neighbourhood is enough.
Notes
EasyCard for the MRT and buses.
Cash for night markets.
Light jacket for evenings and the north coast.
Small umbrella.
Book Beitou private rooms ahead if you want one, especially weekends.
Jiufen is better early. After 11 am it fills up.
Seven days is enough to see the city and one coast without turning the trip into a checklist. Eat, walk, soak, and leave one day loose.
